Looking Ahead: March Destination

Charity, Sheryl, KandernMarch of 2006 found me on a whirlwind tour of two continents.  France, Germany, Austria, South Africa, Spain and Morocco were my destinations for the month of March.  2010 finds me looking forward to repeating a similar though not identical journey.  My itinerary includes Austria, Hungary, Spain, Morocco, and Germany this time.  I get to spend a little more time in each place than I did in 2006.  Back then I visited Black Forest Academy in Kandern, Germany.  BFA is a (mostly) boarding school that specializes in Third Culture Kids.  That year I had two high schoolers to visit Charity (pictured with me) and Sean.  They’ve both graduated from BFA now and are living in the USA.  This year I have at least 7 TCKs to visit in Kandern.  I’ll get to go to school with some of them and take most of them out for tasty treats of one sort or another.  This is definitely one of the highlights of my work!

The following video was put together by some teachers at Black Forest Academy.  It’s well worth watching.  It will give you a sense of the families I serve and a few of the issues they and their children face.  After you’ve watched, let me know what you think!  Oh—and if you look closely, you can spot a slightly older Charity in the video.

  1. BF appears to be somewhat more comfortable than ICA
    Great video
Good thing you have a Kindle to keep you occupied during all of those air hours

  2. Very cool video. Sounds like loads of packing & unpacking are in store in 2010 for you. And we all know how much you enjoy that! 😉 At any rate, I wish you very safe and happy travels, and am so happy to be back in touch! 🙂

  3. Does this mean you can sneak over the boarder and catch a little “rest” in Waldersbach (Well, it is quiet here when the kids are at school…)???
    We’d love to have you!!
The good news, by the way is that AMI is most probably going to become a member of SHARE. Exciting.
    Love, Soul

  4. I think the only time I might be able to come close to sneaking over is if we have a free afternoon while I’m at BFA. One time they had an afternoon trip to Strasbourg. That’s probably the closest I can come to Waldersbach this time. 🙁 I’ll let you know what’s going on when I find out.

    Hooray for a SHARE membership!!!
