I feel like the oxymoron of waiting. I do it enough that I should be good at it.
I spend time waiting in too many doctor’s offices (or is it just enough?). I’m waiting to get healthy. I’m waiting to walk properly. I’m waiting for Prince Charming—or at least his horse to show up. I wait for evidence that exercise and healthy eating make a difffernce. Some days I spend lots of time waiting for planes, trains and automobiles. Once they arrive, I wait longer to get to where I’m going.
I wait for the mood to strike to get things done. I wait for the next email that allows me to complete a plan. I wait for my new computer to arrive.
I wait. Over and over and over again.
I’m not particularly good at it if you equate waiting with being still. I may be physically still (never had a problem with that!) but generally my mind is going. My favorite way to pass the time while I wait alone? Reading. I read at the doctors’ offices, I read on the plane. When I’m not driving, I read in the car. The bathroom has a stack of reading material in it. The bedroom is no exception either.
I have to be busy while I wait.
Today I’m participating in The Gypsy Mama’s 5 Minute Friday. I think I may do this fairly regularly.  Go visit and check out the other entries here.

I also read as I wait. We recently purchased a Kindle and I love that I can now carry a complete library around in my purse. Perfect for those moments I’m stuck waiting! Great post!
Sarah
Thanks for stopping by, Sarah! I have a kindle, too. I love it! It’s amazing to be able to carry around so many books (I have over 600 right now) and some games.
I think keeping yourself busy is the key! And it is amazing what you can do with that time. I really should start packing a book with me everywhere I go…although with a 3 kids under 4 I may not ever get the chance to pull it out!
One of my favorite things to do while waiting is also reading. For me it’s reading blogs. I’m hoping to buy a kindle soon and then I am sure I will be reading more books again as well.
I read while I wait, too. I also crochet or do word find puzzles. I can’t be still while I wait, either. Great post!:)
Chrystal–I am amazed at how much I can get done in a few minutes if I decide I’m only going to do it for 5 or 10 minutes. Hmmmmmm—maybe I need to apply that to my housework!
Rose—As I said before, I love my kindle! I love reading and it makes it so much more convenient. I hope you get one soon!
Suzanne–I love the game Every Word on my kindle. It’s fun to stretch my mind that way. And I love that I can carry all those books and a game or two on my kindle.
