In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand
In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
‘Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live
There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
No guilt of life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
’til He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand

This is Easter. I can’t think of a better way to sum it up. It’s not about what I wear, chocolate bunnies or traditional lemon meringue pie. It’s Christ alone. It begins with Christmas, pauses on Good Friday, and triumphantly wraps up on Resurrection Sunday.
This is Easter. God’s wrath satisfied. Christ defeating death. Sin no longer having a death grip on me.
This is Easter. I am no longer condemned. I am a co-heir with Christ. I belong to the King of Kings. I am his, and he is mine.
It’s overwhelming. It’s more than I can have ever hoped for apart from Christ, but he is my hope. This is life redeemed. This is life reborn.
This is Easter–in Christ alone.

Love this song! You’re right–it says it all. Blessings!
Love this song! Hoping we sing it at our sunrise service. Always moves me to tears but especially at Easter. Way to get me going on the tears a few days early this year, Sheryl! Amazing Love how can it be, that You My God, would die for me??? As you said, it overwhelms me!!
This is a favorite song of mine. Praise God for his indescribable gift.
Isn’t this one of the great new hymns of our age? I love it too. In Christ alone!
Some of my favorite words:
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
Love this song. We sang it this morning in Lisbon. =)
Ladies, I’m a bit overwhelmed with all the comments. Overwhelmed in a nice way. Thank you. I love this hymn–such great and concise theology and so very singable. When I first heard it I was sure I’d grown up with it. Ageless it is. I sure hope we sing it Sunday morning! Judy, you’re right—Amazing Love is another that reaches to my core. May your Easter celebrations be joyful!
I love this song – yes, and Charles’ Wesley’s And can it be, that I should gain, an interest in the Saviour’s blood? …
Oooooo—that’s another good one, Angi! I love the richness of so many hymns both old and new.
Such love and comfort in this song – we sing it at Kings and I love it. Interesting how God uses music to guide us and change our hearts.
Tis mercy all immense and free that You my God would die for me!
Happy Easter, Sheryl! Thanks for this awesome song.
My favorite lines:
” No guilt of life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny.”
Thankful for you, my faith friend!
I hope, I hope, I hope we get to sing this at AGCC this Sunday. If not, I know I’ll be singing it in my heart. I love how music resonates with us. Another great hymn, Mom! And Bonnie—what power to live knowing it’s only Jesus who matters!
Happy Easter, everyone!
Just found out that we ARE signing In Christ Alone at our sunrise service tomorrow. You are certainly invited, Sheryl….hope you can make it!
I’ll see what I can do, Judy! 😉
